“Come with me if you want to live!”, was the cry that the intense, young, brown haired man said as he grabbed Sarah Connor's hand and led her away from the club that was now completely wrecked. The man mentioned above goes by the name of Kyle Reese; he is a soldier from the future, sent to the year 1984 to protect Sarah Connor (and consequently the entire world) from one of many Terminators (sentient machines created by an also self-aware computer virus named Skynet). He also came to share his knowledge of the evil plans that the machines, known collectively as "terminators", had for the human race. This was made very clear to the young Sarah Connor, when she was forced to look into Kyle's green eyes, which were gentle despite his tough exterior and seemingly lost composure. From the confines of a random car he broke into while finding shelter in a parking garage, he told her; "Listen, and understand. That terminator is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead".
As you probably guessed, Sarah was being attacked by a Terminator in that club I mentioned at the beginning. That was always my favorite part of the movie because it is right when things are about to get fast-paced and interesting; yes, when I was just a little boy, The Terminator, was a favorite of mine for its action scenes and scary cyborgs. It wasn't until I got older that I began to appreciate it in a new way.
As I recall Kyle Reese’s heart felt proclamation, I immediately think about how Jesus came down from a place unknown to us, took us by the hand, protected us and our future, and still today, tells us the very statement that Kyle told Sarah. Matthew 11:28 says, “Come unto me, all who are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest." John 14:6 "Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Of course Jesus, in the book of Matthew, is trying to free those who are burdened by legalistic religions who have ruled over them. And there are more examples of Him preaching and teaching against various forms of bondage. This bondage whether it be legalistic rule, lust, envy, or hate, it all leads to death and our death is the ultimate goal of our enemy, Satan. Because just like that Terminator he won't stop until you are dead, in our case much worse than the physical, is a spiritual death!
But the offer has already been made by Jesus, we are not without hope my brothers and sisters, for God already had already sent His more than capable soldier to us. Go with Him if you want to live!
